JFA exists because one person can change the world.
In our Nov. 2023 letter, I explained what this means for us. It’s a quadruple entendre:
“There are four senses in which ‘one person can change the world.’ Ultimately, we believe Jesus Christ is the one Person who changes the world for the better. This is why we exist and why we train Christians to depend on Christ to make change. In addition, each person trained, each life saved, and each person listed below also represents one person who can change the world, by God’s power. Each person is worthy of respect and protection and investment, even if he or she may never change the world in a positive way. It is true, though, that each person JFA reaches could play a pivotal role in changing the world for the better. We thank God that we can partner with you in training Christians to reach one person at a time.”
Over the years, we’ve expressed and returned to this focus on “one person” many times. We have said since our early days that we are “training thousands to make abortion unthinkable for millions, one person at a time.” Even while we pray and work for millions to be changed, we thank God for the opportunity to meet face to face with one person at a time, seeking to use dialogue, pictures, and intelligent argument to help that person change. But even in seeking to meet the needs of that one person, we focus on being faithful to Jesus, trusting Him to bring about whatever change He deems best, whether in the millions or in the one.
It’s in this way that remembering that “one person can change the world” animates everything we do at JFA.
